Akhet Aromatics manifested out of a need for high quality cosmetic products made without harsh, synthetic chemicals. Just a century ago, these products were common place. But with the advent of synthetic fragrance chemicals, which are much cheaper to mass produce, quality has given way to the bottom line of the parent companies of health & beauty product lines. Their bottom line: Make it quicker, make it cheaper, and spend enough on marketing to deceive consumers into believing that they are receiving the ‘genuine article,’ and not an inferior and potentially dangerous imitation of it.

The perfume industry does not require disclosure of the chemicals used in their fragrances. Their ingredients label can simply read, “fragrance” (ref. Fragranced Consumer Products and Undisclosed Ingredients by Anne C. Steinemann, University of Washington).
